Shanghai Saturday/Sunday!!!!
Ok. So my wife doesn’t know that I (her husband) am doing this. So we’ll see how long it takes for her to find out. I – or maybe she – will update you on the results of that sudden epiphany when – and if – it happens. Until then, I’ve decided that every once in a while, I’m going to hijack this blog on the weekends and throw in my own military-husband-twist into my very hard-working military wife's wonderful blog!! =)
This weekend, we purchased a “Blend-tec”. I like to contribute to our healthy-focused-organic-yet-still-on-a-budget; so this investment is currently making me “GEEK” out upon realizing the culinary capabilities that we suddenly gained with this new product. We’d been waiting a long time to get one of these, and we have now decided that we are in need of one.
Here’s how the culmination went down:
**On the drive to Costco**
Marian: “Maybe there will be a Vita-Mix DEMO and we can have samples!!” **swoon**
Ryan: “You may only have samples if you finish your own home-made smoothie.” **gestures to fermenting smoothie in car up holder**
Marian: **mock glare** “Humpf.” **picks up smoothie and begins to sip**
**30 minutes later in Costco**
Ryan: **as he is wheeling the cart around the corner** “Oh…. Looks like Vita-Mix’s competitor is here…”
Marian: “Oooh! Samples!!”
**they talk to suave and smooth demo guy for a few minutes and then sneak away to talk**
Marian: “It’s cheaper…”
Ryan: “And has a good warrantee…”
Marian: “I feel scared spending that much money still.”
Ryan: “We have it saved though…”
Marian: “I know but…. Maybe we can limp…”
Ryan: “Did you see the smoke coming out of our blender this morning…?”
Marian: ……..
Ryan: “Let’s watch the demo… It’s starting in a few minutes.”
Marian: “Okayyyyyyyy……”
**demo commences**
Crowd: “Oooooh/Ahhhhhhhh”
**demo finishes. Crowd scatters after free samples are gone…. Except for Ryan and Marian**
Marian: “This sounds silly but… Can we get the red one?”
Ryan: “Sure!”
And there you have it folks! We now are the proud owners of a Blend-Tec! I have so far made Peanut Butter, Chocolate-Peanut-Almond Butter, Carrot Juice, Tomato Juice, Pumpkin Seed Milk, and Bacon-Potato-Cream Soup.
I’m sure you’ll be seeing this character - whom we have aptly named, Edgar - appear in Marian’s “Cheap Nutrition” posts on Thursdays every now and then. Stay tuned!!!
