After traipsing across the country for seven months, I appreciate so many little luxuries. I try to make daily happy lists in my head, to keep my morale from sagging into self-pity. Sometimes my lists are lame, citing hackneyed blessings like health and food and a car – but today, I thanked God for:
· Full-length mirrors: We haven’t had one for the majority of our marriage, and it’s amazing what ease it adds to our mornings!
· Butter knives: Have you ever tried to spread organic (read: stiff), crunchy (read: even stiffer) peanut butter across a loaf’s worth of crumbly bread, using only a flimsy, plastic wannabe-knife? Yeah.
· Evenly-hot water: Our hotel homes have offered, respectively, psycho-water that switched temperature, either scalding or freezing you mid-shower, dead water that stank and never (ever) got warm, and spastic water that would glug an icky mixture of hot and cold, continuously.
· Tea/winter/hydration: It is amazingly easy to keep hydrated now that I’m always chilled, and constantly hovering over a steamy cup of herbal tea. And the snow makes the world look so tolerable in spite of the weighty, grey skies.
· Tetris : Even tho’ I play far too much, some days I’m not sure how I’d cope without this outlet. =)
Happy Monday!
